Our Commitment to Families

Who We Are
Lanivet and District Under Fives offers a comprehensive range of resources dedicated to preschool children and their families. Our mission is to support early childhood development through engaging educational materials and fostering community connections that nurture growth. By creating a positive and inclusive environment, we aim to empower families with the resources they need to flourish in these crucial developmental years.
Meet The Team

Charlotte Britten
Manager
I’ve been at Lanivet & District Under Fives for 8.5 years, and it truly feels like home. I’m a qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator, with additional training including ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management, Paediatric First Aid, DSL, Armed Forces Champion, and Phonics Lead.
I’m passionate about creating a warm, safe and engaging environment where children can thrive, explore and feel valued.
When I’m not at preschool, you’ll usually find me out running, enjoying family holidays (organised by my husband!), or making memories with my children and friends.

Lindsay Wood
Deputy Manager & SEN Lead
Lindsay has been part of Lanivet & District Under Fives for 8.5 years and is a highly respected member of our leadership team. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in the Early Years Workforce, a Level 3 Award for SENCO, and is our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. Her strong knowledge of SEND and her commitment to advocating for children and their families make her an invaluable support within the setting.
Lindsay is the key person for our Grapes group, a role she thoroughly enjoys. She loves building secure relationships with her key children, supporting their individual needs, and celebrating their progress and achievements.
She is passionate about her SEN role, especially the opportunity it gives her to speak up for children, champion their voices, and work closely with families to ensure they receive the support they need.
In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys family days out, dog walking, and relaxing with a good book.

Penney Gobey
Play Assistant
Penny joined Lanivet & District Under Fives six months ago and has already become a valued member of our team. She brings excellent safeguarding knowledge, having worn many hats in this area throughout her career, and she approaches every situation with calmness, confidence and care.
Penny holds the NNEB Level 3 qualification, along with Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene training. She has a real passion for messy play, encouraging children to explore, experiment and express themselves through sensory experiences.
Penny is the key person for our Pears group, a role she thoroughly enjoys. She loves getting to know each child as an individual, supporting their development, and helping them feel safe, settled and confident during their time with us.
In her spare time, Penny enjoys walking, reading, and spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Phillipa 'Pippa' Brewer
Play Assistant
Pippa has been part of Lanivet & District Under Fives for five years and brings a calm, caring and consistent presence to our team. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in the Early Years Workforce, is a Paediatric First Aider, and has completed Food Hygiene training.
Pippa leads on Healthy Movers, SEN Support, and is our Allergy Lead, ensuring children’s wellbeing, safety and individual needs are always prioritised.
She is the key person for our Strawberries group and loves spending time outdoors with her key children, especially when the sun is shining. Pippa enjoys supporting children’s confidence, independence and curiosity through active, hands‑on learning.
In her spare time, Pippa enjoys quality days out with her children and family, as well as coastal and woodland walks that help her unwind and recharge.

Josie Clemow
Play Assistant
Josie has been part of Lanivet & District Under Fives for the past two years and brings a warm, enthusiastic energy to our preschool. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in the Early Years Workforce, is a Paediatric First Aider, and leads on vocabulary development, vocabulary in mathematics, and our popular library book bags. Her passion for early language and early maths shines through in everything she does.
Josie is also the key person for our Cherries group, a role she loves. She enjoys building strong, trusting relationships with her key children, supporting their confidence, and celebrating their individual achievements. She takes great pride in helping them grow, learn new skills, and feel secure during their time with us.
Outside of preschool, Josie enjoys going on solo holidays, walking her dog, and spending time with her large and lively family.

Grandma Sue
Volunteer
Grandma Sue joined Lanivet & District Under Fives in October 2025 and has quickly become a much‑loved part of our preschool family. Having a “grandma figure” in the setting twice a week brings such comfort, familiarity and joy to the children. Her gentle presence, kindness and calm approach help create a homely, nurturing atmosphere that our little ones adore.
Grandma Sue supports the children with stories, cuddles, conversations and those special moments that only a grandma can give. She is a familiar face the children look forward to seeing, and her time with us adds something truly special to our week.

Sara Frost
Supply Staff
Sara is a familiar and much‑loved face at Lanivet & District Under Fives. She was our Deputy Manager seven years ago before retiring, and we're delighted to have her back as part of our supply team. Her return brings a wealth of experience, calm reassurance and a deep understanding of Early Years practice.
Sara has extensive knowledge in Early Childhood Studies and has worn many hats throughout her career, supporting children, families and staff with her gentle, knowledgeable approach. Her background and passion for Early Years make her an invaluable support whenever she steps through the door. Sara is also part of the committee.
In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren, exploring the country in her campervan with her dog & husband, and sewing beautiful new creations.

Claire Collins
Supply Staff
Claire was our Deputy Manager until January 2026, and although she stepped back from her role, she couldn’t quite leave us behind. She remains a familiar and much‑loved face within the setting, supporting us through supply staffing and contributing her experience and passion as a valued member of our committee.
Claire has exceptional knowledge across all areas of Early Years, including safeguarding, phonics, vocabulary development and early literacy. After being part of Lanivet & District Under Fives through three different locations, she is delighted that we are now settled in our forever home.
Claire has a genuine love for the children and the staff team, which is why she chose to stay connected to the preschool. Her calm, knowledgeable approach and deep understanding of Early Years practice continue to benefit the setting enormously.
In her spare time, Claire enjoys coastal walks with her dog and partner, spending precious time with her family, and visiting her second home in Tenerife.
